SBH Radiators are extremely pleased to announce our corporate membership to MARC, The Manufacturer’s Association of Radiators and Convectors.
This organisation strives to ensure compliance with product testing in the radiator industry. Over the last few years, many manufacturers and distributors have been particularly ignorant of the legal obligations required to be adhered to in order to be able to safely sell a radiator in the UK. For many consumers, trade buyers, specifiers, and architects this legal compliance has been difficult to navigate as noncompliant manufacturers have been misleading customers with false data supplied in their promotional material and websites for significantly long periods of time.
The net result of buying a radiator that has not completed the correct testing regime is that it will not perform as you expect it will. Thus leaving rooms cold, consumers turning up boilers and the use of more gas, electric or oil and the increase of emissions into the atmosphere.
The bottom line is you may have bought something that will not do what you intended.
MARC is raising awareness of these issues, along with Trading Standards to call for zero tolerance on those manufacturers that don’t comply with legislation. This is not just relevant for bathroom radiators but any radiator sold in the UK.
In the next few months, you will be able to get access to test data and certificates for all MARC member’s products so that you can be ultimately confident that your purchase will meet the needs of the installation and is compliant with the law.
SBH Radiators has complied with this legislation since 2013 and we will continue to manufacturer incredibly beautiful products that surpass customers expectations.
We hope that as this process unfolds that other manufacturers decide to join us and ensure that our industry develops a reputation it can be proud of.
